DIY Sensor Cleaning

Taking the fear out of sensor cleaning. Arenas are dusty places, and dust on your sensor shows up as dark spots in every picture, especially in skies and light backgrounds. Sending a camera away for cleaning during the season is not always possible. This free course shows you how to clean your sensor safely yourself.

What you will learn

  • How to check whether your sensor is dirty.
  • Preventing dust in the first place when changing lenses.
  • Using a blower correctly.
  • When and how to use sensor swabs and cleaning fluid.
  • Mistakes to avoid that could damage your camera.
  • Checking your results and knowing when to get professional help.

Why do it yourself

Knowing how to clean your own sensor saves time and keeps you working during busy weekends. It also saves hours of editing, since every spot on the sensor is another spot to remove from every image.

Who it is for

The lessons are short and calm, so you can watch them once, gather your supplies and then follow along with your own camera at the kitchen table.

Any photographer with an interchangeable-lens camera will benefit, especially those who shoot in dusty arenas and outdoor events. Always follow your camera manufacturer’s instructions alongside this course.
